Art Riddler Exhibition, Dublin
Stillness of Being
This photograph was taken at the edge of the Dublin Mountains. The pine trees stand proud and persistent in the changing world around them. Their resilience marked and noteworthy in its calm reassurance.
The image is styled to mimic the first photographic prints (Daguerreotypes) which were created on metal plates in the 1800s. This modern interpretation uses 7-colour UV cured ink, to print the image directly onto a brushed aluminium sheet. The artefacts - scratches and marks - have been added using overlays of other images. In this way, the visual style bridges the history of photography and the passing of time. It creates a quiet but poignant image, which asks us to shift from constant distraction and movement, to linger and rest in a simple moment.
This piece was exhibited as part of the Art Riddler exhibition, Dublin 2026. Huge thanks and appreciation to the Art Riddler for his incredible generosity and huge contribution to emerging artists in Ireland.
